Keep in mind that I am is an instruction to the brain...
When you say things like;
I am tired.
I am not good enough.
I am always messing things up.
Your brain listens to all these, obeys, and starts collecting evidence to prove that the statement is true. It filters your entire day, your reactions, and even your memories through that lens. Not because it wants to hurt you, but because that’s how the mind works, it's wired to seek patterns. Wild right?
It's like when you say “I am unlucky” enough times, you’ll only notice what goes wrong in your life and never what goes right. It’s not magic, it’s focus, repetition, and belief all playing on loop.
So the question is, what are you telling yourself every day?
I'm aware that we all have some bad days, and the I am statements we use in those moments are not kind. Don't get me wrong, I’m not saying you need to lie to yourself or become delusional. You don’t have to chant “I am happy” when you’re not, don't invalidate your feelings. Take note of your negative emotions and make little positive shifts. This helps you give yourself permission to feel what you're feeling, and at the same time letting it go to loosen your grip on negative emotions.
If you're finding it hard to speak kindly to yourself, you can start with:
- I am doing the best I can.
- I am allowed to feel tired and still be worthy.
- I am learning to love myself more.
- I am figuring it out, slowly.
- I am learning how to rest without feeling guilty.
- I am practicing how to connect better.
- I am doing the best I can.
- I am allowed to feel tired and still be worthy.
- I am learning to love myself more.
- I am figuring it out, slowly.
- I am learning how to rest without feeling guilty.
- I am practicing how to connect better.
