The struggle of making a decision.

How many times have you held back from making a decision just because you were afraid it wouldn’t be the perfect one? Yeah, same here. Most of us don’t like that uncomfortable feeling that creeps in when we have to pick one thing over the other. Instead, we want to stay tucked away in our little imaginary world where everything feels nice, cozy, and just warm. But let's be real, that world doesn't exist. And truthfully, making decisions isn’t always that easy. It’s just not talked about much because we're made to believe that it’s supposed to be easy peasy!! And if you struggle to do so, you might be viewed as not being a strong decision maker.

Decision-making honestly feels messy sometimes. It comes with doubts, second-guessing, and a whole lot of "what ifs."

The truth is that making a decision is a pick-your-poison moment. You have to understand the consequences of your decisions. Next, ask yourself what kind of consequences and feelings are you willing to stomach? Will you be okay with the outcome?

Maybe you choose something as simple as not going out to a dinner party with your friends after work, even though you rarely get to see each other. On one hand, when you choose to stay home, you'll feel like you’re not being an intentional friend, maybe they'll even get mad at you, maybe you'll feel lots of FOMO. On the other hand, when you go, you'll feel super drained, your energy levels might crash, and you might end up feeling like you wasted your time.

In this example, you have to make a decision: either choose yourself and rest up, or go out and have some enjoyment with your friends. Either way, you can now see it won't be perfect or completely comfortable, it all depends on what you prioritize.

Of course, we live in a society where we're all fighting to get that feel-good hit, but clearly we can see that we need to be as realistic as possible. We need to learn to sit in that uncomfortable moment. Stop running away from it, it’s natural. We don't live in a black-and-white, perfect world, and that's okay. I guess that's part of adulting.

Just like you making the choice to go to the gym every morning. It's tough. You’d rather sleep in a little. Your muscles ache afterwards, and the pain makes you want to quit. This is a good problem because you’re staying fit and being more intentional with your healthy lifestyle, instead of staying comfortable and later struggling with health issues.

Either way, you just have to remember two things: it's always a pick-your-poison moment, and try to have good problems as opposed to bad ones.

Finally, to make your decisions a little simpler than they were, you can use the above methods. Just remember that your choices will have consequences, so choose the one you’re willing to live with. And again, please, please TAKE ACTION and make a decision. Holding it off is also making one in its own way.

Anyway guys, Thank you for sticking around.
